Everton weigh up move for Spanish midfielder Isco

Everton are considering a move for Spanish midfielder Isco, according to The Times.

The former Real Madrid star is currently a free agent and that has attracted the Toffees.

They were unable to land any player during the January transfer window and are now left to look at free agents.

Isco was close to joining Bundesliga club Union Berlin last month, only for a move to fall through at the last minute.

The 30-year-old and Sevilla agreed to terminate his contract in December 2022.

Isco has been constantly linked with the Premier League for a while and could finally secure a move.

Everton could do with his experience and quality in the attacking third in their remaining games this term.

He scored a goal and claimed three assists in 18 games across all competitions for Sevilla this term before his departure.

Isco struggled in his last four seasons at Madrid. He scored just five La Liga goals and claimed six assists in 89 league games.

However, his first five seasons yielded 32 league goals and 37 assists.

Taking a punt on Isco would be a massive gamble for Everton, but they do not have plenty of options right now. There are very few quality players available for free.

Things did not work out the last time the club signed a player that once shone at Madrid.

They cannot risk another James Rodriguez situation, and it will be fascinating to see their decision.

Isco will struggle to replicate the red-hot form from his early years. His wages could also prove to be an issue, but his versatility could be of great value.

He can play as a winger, a striker, an attacking midfielder and in central midfield.

Everton are in dire need of some creativity in their ranks and could be tempted to sign him.
