Chelsea agree €6m deal for Southampton sensation Jimmy-Jay Morgan

Chelsea are set to sign Southampton academy striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have reached an agreement with the south coast club over a deal worth €6 million, including add-ons.

The 17-year-old was considered one of Southampton’s brightest young talents.

The Saints wanted to hold on to Morgan, but he rejected their contract. Leeds United were also recently linked with the teenage sensation.

He did not sign a professional contract with the Saints, which kept his suitors on alert.

Arsenal and Manchester United were also keeping tabs on Morgan, but Chelsea have won the race to secure his services.

The England under-17 international has bagged nine goals in 15 games for the England youth teams.

He was named in the Southampton squad that faced Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup in November 2022.

Morgan was also part of the squad that faced Crystal Palace in the FA Cup last month.

However, he did not get to make his senior debut, and those gestures were not enough to convince him.

Morgan will now link up with the Chelsea academy and could end up being their replacement for Jude Soonsup-Bell.

The 19-year-old striker swapped the Blues for Tottenham Hotspur yesterday and he will link up with their under-21 side.

Morgan notched 27 goals for Southampton under-16s and 13 goals for the under-18s last term.

He has enormous potential and could soon be playing for the first team if his development goes well.

Chelsea splashed the cash on senior players during the January transfer window but have continued to strengthen their youth teams.
