Sevilla have signed Tottenham Hotspur forward Bryan Gil on loan for the remainder of the season, confirmed by the Spanish club on their official website.
The Spanish forward has continuously struggled for game time since signing for Spurs in 2021.
He spent the second half of the last season on loan at Valencia before returning to north London in the summer.
Gil’s situation hasn’t improved this term either, with the winger mainly being on the fringes while making only four Premier League appearances.
The 21-year-old might have shown flashes of brilliance in recent weeks, but those weren’t enough for him to convince Antonio Conte of a prominent role in the squad.
Sevilla have reunited with Gil, who spent the formative years of his career with the Andalusian club.
The Spaniard will be the third loan signing of the January transfer window after Papa Gueye and Loic Balde.
However, there is no purchase option included in the deal, meaning that Sevilla will have to negotiate with Spurs if they want to sign him permanently next summer.
Gil’s addition is a much-needed one for Jorge Sampaoli’s side, who have endured a chaotic campaign this term.
However, Sevilla’s form has seen a spike post the World Cup, with them registering three wins in their last five games in La Liga while suffering only one defeat.
Rojiblancos recorded a thumping 3-0 victory against bottom-most club Elche last weekend, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring a double.
Sampaoli’s men are 13th in La Liga and have a mountain to climb to secure European qualification.
