Manchester City keen to sign Barcelona target Arnau Martinez

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona target and Girona defender Arnau Martinez.

The 19-year-old has been earning rave reviews in Spain with his outstanding performances. He has established himself as a regular starter after making his first-team debut in December 2020.

The Spaniard has started 15 matches in La Liga this season, with three goal contributions to his name.

His performances have reportedly sparked interest from Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are still struggling with financial issues and are looking for bargain deals. They have identified Martinez as a good fit for their needs.

However, as per Mundo Deportivo, they may face competition from Manchester City who are also monitoring the talented youngster.

The Cityzens are keen to strengthen their right-back position.

They currently have Joao Cancelo, but he has been struggling for form this season. Kyle Walker is another option, but he will turn 33 this year.


Manager Pep Guardiola also has Rico Lewis at his disposal, but he will likely be looking to add competition for this position.

Martinez is currently contracted to Girona until June 2025. But his deal includes a €20 million release clause.

Man City have a significant advantage over Barcelona in the chase for the youngster.

The club’s current owners have a majority stake in Girona, and City could take advantage of that.
