Weston McKennie is set to join Leeds United on loan from Juventus, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Whites will part with a loan fee of £1.2 million and can activate an option to buy the 24-year-old for €33m. McKennie has already struck personal terms with Leeds.
The club’s majority owner Andrea Radrizzani played a key role in helping to get the deal across the line.
An official announcement is expected very soon as the west Yorkshire club looks to complete their third signing of the window.
Leeds have snapped up Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg and Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim earlier this month.
With a centre-back and a forward already signed, bolstering their options in the middle of the park was pertinent.
McKennie has been one of the best players at Juve since he joined them in 2020 from Schalke 04.
The United States international linked up with the Old Lady initially on a loan deal.
The Serie A club activated the option to make the loan permanent at the end of the season.
McKennie’s imminent Premier League move is taking a similar route.
However, a permanent move to Elland Road will depend on the club’s English top-flight status after the campaign. Leeds are currently a point above the drop zone after 19 games.
The American’s addition should help boost their chances of staying up without a doubt.
McKennie will be linking up with his fellow compatriots in Whites manager Jesse Marsch, Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams.
A midfield pairing of the United States stars could play a huge role in the side’s much-needed resurgence.
