Arsenal table £60m bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo

Arsenal have tabled a £60 million bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners want to add the Ecuador international to their ranks this month to boost their title chances.

Chelsea are also keen on the 21-year-old, but the Seagulls recently dismissed their £55m verbal proposal.

Arsenal are hoping they can tempt Brighton into selling Caicedo, but whether their bid will be deemed enough is unknown.

The north London side needs to strengthen their midfield, with only Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey as their key options.

Mohamed Elneny is currently injured and Albert Sambi Lokonga has struggled to impress.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is desperate to add another midfielder to his ranks, and Caicedo has proven himself.

The Brighton youngster will only keep improving, and his suitors know this.

He is one of the reasons the Seagulls are punching above their weight at the moment.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter would love to be reunited with Caicedo, but Arsenal could win the race for his signature.

However, the Seagulls could insist he is not for sale this month unless an outrageous offer is tabled.

They have a chance to clinch one of the European places for next season, and losing the South American could affect them.

Arsenal know this could be their best chance to finally win the title for the first time since 2004.

They simply cannot afford to head into the business end of the campaign without another top midfielder.
