Jordan Hugill joins Rotherham United on a free transfer

Rotherham United have completed the signing of Norwich City striker Jordan Hugill on a free transfer.

Hugill has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Millers. He is the club’s fourth signing of an exciting January transfer window.

They have already signed Sean Morrison, Leo Hjelde and Tariqe Fosu to boost their hopes of staying in the Championship.

Hugill has a tonne of Sky Bet Championship experience. He has also played in the Premier League with West Ham United and Norwich.

The powerful forward forged his reputation in non-league football before Port Vale gave him a chance in 2013. He joined Preston North End, before going on loans to Tranmere Rovers and Hartlepool United.

He eventually made his mark with Preston before joining the Hammers in January 2018. He had loan spells at Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers before signing for Norwich.

Hugill has scored four goals in 38 league appearances for the Canaries. He has had spells on loan with West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City in the past couple of years.

Rotherham are hovering dangerously close to the drop zone and need all the help they can get to climb the table.

The Millers face south Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United on Saturday, February 4, and Hugill could make his debut.
