Barcelona transfer round-up: Rabiot offered, Galatasaray submit offer for Depay, Inaki Pena set for renewal

From Adrien Rabiot to Inaki Pena, let’s look at the latest transfer stories surrounding Barcelona.

Rabiot offered to Barcelona for next summer

Adrien Rabiot has re-established himself as one of Europe’s best midfielders following his stellar campaign in the 2022 World Cup, driving France to the final against Argentina.

The French midfielder’s future at Juventus continues to be a subject of speculation, as his contract runs out next summer.

While several European giants, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea, are hot on the trail of Rabiot, Barcelona have now joined the race.

Diario Sport reports that the Frenchman has been offered to the Catalan club as a free agent for the summer of 2023.

Rabiot has repeatedly expressed his desire to try out a new challenge, having come close to leaving the Bianconeri for Man Utd last summer before the move collapsed at the last moment.

Barca are actively searching for a successor to Sergio Busquets, who is reportedly set to move to MLS outfit Inter Miami next summer.

Franck Kessie could also follow Busquets through the exit door, having struggled for game time this season.

Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to land the Ivorian midfielder next summer.

Rabiot looks like an excellent option, especially when he is available for free.

The former PSG star is known for his scoring prowess, an aspect which is absent with the current crop of Barca midfielders.

Depay has an offer from Galatasaray

Turkish giants Galatasaray have sounded out Barcelona to sign Memphis Depay in January, another report from Diario Sport suggests.

Depay has been deemed surplus to requirements, and the Catalan giants are looking to offload him as early as January.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Sevilla have been credited with an interest in Depay, but Galatasaray are the only club said to have made a formal offer.

However, the Dutch forward is not considering the idea of moving to Turkey as he wishes to play for a more prominent club.

Inaki Pena set for a renewal

Barcelona are set to extend Inaki Pena’s contract – which expires next summer – as they have prepared a three-year renewal, according to a report from Diario AS.

The Spanish goalkeeper continues to be an understudy for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but Barca believe the La Masia graduate has a promising future at Camp Nou.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of the last season on loan at Galatasaray before returning to Barca in the summer.

Pena has made only one appearance this season, which came in the Champions League game against Viktoria Plzen.
