Leicester City plot €45m move for Moroccan World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi

Leicester City are interested in a move for Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, according to L’Equipe.

The Moroccan has been one of the top performers in the World Cup, playing a key role in Walid Regragui’s side reaching the semi-finals.

Ounahi’s impressive performances have also caught the attention of top European clubs such as Barcelona and Sevilla.

However, Leicester are keen to win the race for the highly-rated midfielder, and they have prepared an offer worth €45 million.

The 22-year-old has risen through the ranks in recent years, playing for third-tier French club Avranches before progressing into one of the most talented midfielders in Europe.

Ounahi and his compatriot Sofiane Boufal have been standout performers for Angers in Ligue 1 this season. Both players have successfully translated their form to the World Cup.

Of all the midfielders at the Qatar World Cup, Ounahi ranks in the 97th percentile for the most number of dribbles completed.

The Foxes are looking to make more signings in January after failing to make any significant moves in the summer transfer window.

Ounahi is one of their top targets, and the club believe they could prise him away from France with a lucrative offer.

Angers president Said Chabane has recently revealed that offers are piling up for Ounahi, and it will be difficult to keep him beyond January.

Speculation continues to mount on Youri Tielemans and James Maddison, with the two midfielders subject of interest from top clubs.

Ouanahi will be in action when the Atlas Lions face France in the semi-final later today, with the winners taking on Argentina in the finals on Sunday.
