Christian Pulisic linked with loan move to Manchester United

Manchester United are pondering a loan move for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.

The United States forward’s representatives are trying to find a new club for Pulisic, who has largely failed to live up to expectations with the Blues.

He joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund for £58 million in 2019 and was tipped to become one the biggest stars in the Premier League.

However, he has been inconsistent for Chelsea and has found it increasingly difficult to force his way into the line-up.

The 24-year-old has started just three Premier League games this season and was substituted on each occasion.

His only 90-minute outing for Chelsea was in the Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester City earlier this month.

Newcastle United and Arsenal have also been linked with Pulisic, but a move to Old Trafford could be appealing to him.

He has looked bright for the US at the World Cup in Qatar, helping the team secure draws against Wales and England and Wales in Group B.

A victory over Iran on Tuesday would for the US into the round of 16 where they would face the Netherlands, Senegal or Ecuador.

United were interested in signing Pulisic from Dortmund, but Chelsea beat off the competition to secure his services.

While his time at Stamford Bridge has not gone according to plan, there is still plenty of time for Pulisic to fulfil his undoubted potential.

He is the type of player who could flourish under United manager Erik ten Hag and it would be no surprise to see him move north in January.

With top-class talents generally difficult to come by in the winter transfer window, signing Pulisic on loan would be a sensible move for United as they bid to secure a top-four finish.
