Borna Sosa up for sale in January amid interest from Bayern Munich

VfB Stuttgart are reportedly willing to sell left-back Borna Sosa in the January transfer window to ease their financial difficulties.

Sky Sport Germany reports that the Bundesliga outfit have put the Croatian defender on the market and are looking to generate around €20 million from his sale.

Sosa was heavily linked with an exit during the summer transfer window, with European heavyweights such as Barcelona, Inter Milan and Manchester City showing interest in him.

Inter appeared to be the potential destination after they identified Sosa as a possible replacement for Robin Gosens, who was a subject of interest from Bayer Leverkusen. But none of the moves materialised.

While the Nerazzurri are still in the market for a full-back, they have made Borussia Monchengladbach defender Ramy Bensebaini their top target.

Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Sosa in a bid to provide back-up for Alphonso Davies.

The Croatian international has been one of the best full-backs in Bundesliga over the last few seasons, and he has already racked up four assists in 11 games this term.

Stuttgart sold highly-talented Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic for €18m last summer, and they are now looking for a fee in a similar region for Sosa.

The 24-year-old is expected to make the Croatian squad for the 2022 World Cup, and the number of suitors could increase if he enjoys an impressive campaign.

Bayern are reportedly not interested in bringing any reinforcements in the winter transfer exchange, but they might change their stance after Davies’ latest injury.
