Premier League Manager of the Month nominees for October announced

The Premier League has announced the nominees for the Manager of the Month award for October.

Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe have been shortlisted for the monthly award for their team’s exceptional results this month, and all three are in the top four.

The winner will be announced on Friday, November 11. Supporters can cast their votes here.

Mikel Arteta – Arsenal

Having won the August award, the Spanish manager is once again on the shortlist for the prestigious award after a near-perfect October period.

The Gunners began the month with a 3-1 victory over fierce north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur before edging Liverpool 3-2 in a game that strengthened their credentials as title contenders.

Arteta’s side also saw off Leeds United. Although they dropped points against Southampton, the Gunners maintained their unbeaten run and closed out the month with a massive 5-0 victory over relegation strugglers Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal are currently two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, and they will back themselves to go all the way.

Pep Guardiola – Manchester City

Starting the month with a victory over local rivals Manchester United set the tone for a near-perfect action-packed October period where Guardiola’s side won four of their five games.

Southampton were no match for the rampaging reigning champions, but Guardiola’s side saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an abrupt end against Liverpool at Anfield courtesy of a Mohammed Salah goal.

The Cityzens returned to winning ways when they welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion to the Etihad Stadium, and Kevin De Bruyne’s stunning free-kick was enough to see off Leicester City and close out the month with a win.

Eddie Howe – Newcastle United

Eddie Howe’s side have taken the Premier League by storm this season, and October will be a month to remember for the Magpies.

In addition to their impressive unbeaten run last month, Newcastle were also the top scorers in the league, netting four or more goals in three of their six games. They also returned more points than any other side in the month to move into the top four.

With five wins from six, including success over Spurs and a draw with Man United, Newcastle are fourth in the league table, although they have played one more game than the Red Devils.
