Manchester United are targeting a move for Max Aarons ahead of the January transfer window, per The Sun.
The 20-time English champions are keen to bolster their full-back options, with Aaron Wan Bissaka likely to leave the club having played just four minutes this season.
While Diogo Dalot has undeniably excelled since taking over as the starting right-back, Erik ten Hag remains keen on further reinforcements in that department.
“I’m really happy with the development of Diogo – he’s done really well,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports after his side’s narrow 1-0 victory over West Ham United yesterday.
“In possession, I think he’s really good and he has the breath to go up and down [the wing].
“The development is really good, but I have to mention that a club like Manchester United needs two good full-backs because we have a lot of games to cover.”
United had previously been linked with a move for Aarons as far back as 2019 when Wan Bissaka was eventually signed from Crystal Palace for £50 million.
Despite suffering multiple Premier League relegations with Norwich since then, Aarons has not been short of admirers.
Everton, Wolfsburg and Olympique Marseille are all believed to have made formal enquiries for the 22-year-old last summer, while a loan bid with an option to buy from Borussia Monchengladbach was also rejected.
As he approaches the final 18 months of his existing contract at Carrow Road, Aarons is reportedly valued at £10m, which represents a fair deal for a player for his potential.
Off the back of a rough start to the 2022/23 campaign, United have looked the part in recent weeks as they are unbeaten in their last eight games across all competitions, keeping clean sheets in five of those matches.
However, a busy January window is expected at Old Trafford with the Red Devils seeking to address the remaining holes in their squad.
