Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur team news: Ronaldo axed, Maguire returns to training

Manchester United registered one of their best victories this season against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The Red Devils completely dominated their rivals at Old Trafford and comfortably won the Premier League encounter 2-0, courtesy of goals by Fred and Bruno Fernandes.

Their victory would have been more convincing if not for the brilliance of Hugo Lloris between the sticks.

Erik ten Hag’s men will not get much rest following their superb win as they come up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

The club have already confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the squad against the Blues.

The Portuguese refused to come off the bench in the win over Spurs and walked down the tunnel before full-time, sparking huge criticism from fans and pundits alike

Elsewhere, Harry Maguire and Brandon Williams have stepped up their recovery by returning to training.

Maguire has been sidelined since picking up a knock in England’s 3-3 draw with Germany in September. Williams has been out since the beginning of pre-season.

Ten Hag will likely provide an update on the two players, as well as Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, in his pre-match press conference.

Axel Tuanzebe is unlikely to recover anytime soon as his injury is expected to keep him sidelined until after the World Cup in Qatar

Christian Eriksen returned from illness on Wednesday, but he is unlikely to displace Fred who produced an exemplary showing against Spurs.
