Napoli preparing new contract for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Napoli are working towards offering Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a new contract, according to Calciomercato.

His current deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona expires in 2027, so an extension looks unlikely at this stage with only a pay rise expected.

Kvaratskhelia has quickly endeared himself to the Napoli faithful courtesy of a fine start to the season.

He has racked up seven goals and six assists – more than any other Serie A player – across all competitions.

Napoli are now looking to reward their most in-form player with an improved deal despite only just paying €10 million to sign the 21-year-old from Dinamo Batumi during the last transfer window.

Having produced impressive performances against Liverpool, Ajax and Lazio in his early days in Naples, Kvaratskhelia is gathering interest from several European heavyweights.

It is no surprise to see his current employers trying to tie him down for the foreseeable future as they aim to end a 32-year wait since their last Scudetto in 1990.

Napoli have made a bright start to the current campaign and currently sit top of Serie A with 26 points from a possible 30, two points clear of nearest challengers Atalanta.

The Parthenopeans are also through to the last 16 of the Champions League with one of the only two 100% records in Europe’s premier club competition this term alongside Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Luciano Spalletti’s men are next in action on Sunday when they visit Stadio Olimpico to face off against Roma before bidding to confirm top spot in their Champions League group with a clash against Rangers three days later.
