Manchester United and PSG keeping tabs on Lautaro Martinez

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have enquired about Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Rumours have often linked him with Europe’s top clubs in the past, but he has remained committed to the Nerazzurri.

The Argentine international is one of the best strikers around owing to his productive stint at Inter.

The 25-year-old led Inter to the Scudetto in the 2020/21 season and played a big part in La Albiceleste’s Copa America triumph last year.

He experienced a brief goal drought this season before breaking it against Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this week.

El Toro continues to be one of the sought-after players, with PSG and Man Utd becoming his latest suitors.

Man Utd failed to sign a centre-forward this summer after failing to offload Cristiano Ronaldo, whose efforts to leave Old Trafford ended in vain.

The Portuguese forward’s exit in January or next summer looks likely after falling out of favour with Erik ten Hag.

Marcus Rashford has been the first-choice striker this season, but United need a high-volume goalscorer moving forward. Martinez looks like a great option.

Les Parisiens may challenge United for Martinez’s signature as they prepare for a possible future without Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe’s recent exit rumours emerged out of nowhere, and he appears to be keen on leaving the French capital just months after signing a lucrative new deal.

Messi’s contract expires next summer, and although he has an option to extend it for another year, Barcelona are reportedly keen on bringing him back to Camp Nou.

Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid have also identified Martinez as one of the potential successors to Karim Benzema.

The former Racing star is not thinking of an exit at the moment, and his focus is on succeeding at Inter.

He will be playing a key role for Lionel Scaloni’s side in the 2022 World Cup next month.
