Jorginho’s agent addresses Barcelona rumours

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, with his contract expiring in 2023.

Barcelona have emerged as a potential suitor as they are planning to sign him on a free transfer as a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

The speculation was fuelled after Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos was spotted in the Catalonian capital a few days ago.

However, Santos has insisted the priority is to progress renewal talks with Chelsea.

Santos told TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t “I went [to Barcelona] to pray. “I work in football – I have been to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia but also in other parts such as Lyon. It’s work. I’m Jorginho’s agent – I may have talked about him but also about others.

“We prioritise Chelsea and we are moving towards it. Another priority for Jorginho is to do well with the national team.”

The 30-year-old continues to be an integral part of the Blues’ midfield, having made 12 appearances in all competitions this season.

He recently produced an impressive display against AC Milan in the Champions League at the San Siro, helping Graham Potter’s side win 3-0.

Jorginho is shouldering more responsibility with N’Golo Kante out injured and Potter seems to have full trust in him.

The Blues have already extended the contracts of Armando Broja and Reece James, with Mason Mount next in line.

Talks with Jorginho may begin soon as the former Napoli star has the right to sign a pre-agreement with clubs outside England in January.
