AC Milan are one of several clubs interested in Rennes forward Amine Gouiri, reports Calcimercato.
The highly-rated French forward moved to Nice in 2020 after failing to establish himself at his boyhood club Lyon.
Despite netting 28 goals and 19 assists in 89 appearances, a fallout with manager Lucien Favre led to his departure this summer, with Rennes splashing out €28 million for his signature.
Following a slow start this season, the 22-year-old has found his feet recently, bagging three goals and two assists in the last four Ligue 1 games.
Gouiri has attracted interest from numerous clubs including Juventus, AS Roma, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
A centre-forward by trade, the French U21 international can also play on the wings and as a second striker. He is best known for his dribbling skills.
Milan are looking at adding a possible striker next summer as a long-term successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.
They may even have to scour the market for another forward if Rafael Leao doesn’t agree to a contract extension, with European heavyweights lining up a move for him next summer.
PSG have been backed into a corner after shocking reports surfaced recently that Kylian Mbappe is unhappy and wants to leave in January.
Les Parisiens also have to sort out Lionel Messi’s future. His contract expires next summer and Barcelona are pushing for his return.
The Ligue 1 champions will be looking for more attacking reinforcements if they fail to keep hold of the two superstars.
Gouiri is one of their reported targets, with Christophe Galtier having worked with him at Nice.
The French prospect is also wanted by Madrid, who have continuously scoured the Ligue 1 market in recent years.
Gouiri has been likened to Karim Benzema due to his playing style and the fact that both rose through the youth ranks of Les Gones.
The European champions are looking for a successor to Benzema, and Gouiri is one of their desired targets.
