N’Golo Kante suffers a relapse, ruled out of Milan clash

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is braced for an extended spell on the sidelines as he has suffered a relapse to his injury in training.

The French midfielder has endured a miserable season and has been out of action since August with a hamstring injury.

Kante’s return will be further delayed after aggravating his injury during training, with Graham Potter confirming that the 31-year-old will miss the Champions League clash against AC Milan.

While the timeframe of his return remains unknown, the Blues boss believes the situation doesn’t look ideal for the French World Cup winner.

Potter told the press ahead of the Milan clash (h/t football.london): “He had a reaction in training.

“It’s not ideal and disappointing for him and for us, so we have to wait and see the extent of it and then go from there.”

Hakim Ziyech also misses out due to illness, while Wesley Fofana continues his recovery after sustaining a knee injury in last week’s home leg against the Rossoneri.

Thiago Silva, who sat out the Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend, is set to return to face his former club.

Potter is off to a great start to his managerial career at Stamford Bridge, picking up three consecutive victories against Crystal Palace, Milan and Wolves.

The west Londoners will travel to San Siro for the reverse fixture aiming to complete the double over Milan.

The home side head into the game on the back of an impressive 2-0 victory against Juventus in Serie A and will look to exact revenge against the Blues.
