Lazio looking to extend Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s contract

Lazio looking to extend Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s contract until 2026

Lazio are still waiting for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to sign a new contract amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, according to Calciomercato.

The Biancocelesti have made a renewal offer that will see him extend his stay until 2026 on the table for months, but the Serbian has yet to sign on the dotted line.

Lazio are desperate not to lose the 27-year-old who is one of the best midfielders in Serie A and not short of suitors.

Manchester United and Arsenal were reportedly interested in his services last summer, but Lazio were adamant he was not for sale.

Milinkovic-Savic’s current deal is due to expire in June 2024. If he does not sign the new contract, Lazio will have to consider cashing in on their prized jewel.

Juventus were one of the clubs linked with a move for the Serbia international last summer. They need someone with his technical and goalscoring prowess to partner Manuel Locatelli in midfield.

While Milinković-Savić has never been desperate to leave Lazio, he may consider joining Juventus next summer.

The Bianconeri management will reportedly initiate a potential player-plus-cash deal to try and convince Lazio president Claudio Lotito into a sale.

PSG have also been monitoring the midfielder’s situation at the Stadio Olimpico for some time now.

Despite bringing in Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Renato Sanches last summer, their interest in the Lazio midfielder is growing and they are strong contenders for his services.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a pivotal part of Lazio over the last seven years. He already has four goals and five assists in ten games across all competitions this season.

He netted a brace in Lazio’s 4-0 win over Spezia last weekend and will be looking to carry his fine form to Austria when his side takes on SK Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday.
