Pobega scores maiden goal as AC Milan steamroll Dinamo Zagreb 3-1

AC Milan secured a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League this evening – their first win of the group stage this season.

Rafael Leao won a penalty just before the half time, which was successfully converted by Olivier Giroud to give Rossoneri the breakthrough.

The hosts doubled the lead in the opening minutes of the second half, with Leao assisting Alexis Saelemakers, who found the net for the second consecutive game in the Champions League.

Milan momentarily appeared to be carried away by the advantage after Zagreb halved the deficit through Mislav Orisic, who scored the only goal in the shock win against Chelsea last week.

The game was put to bed after substitute Tommaso Pobega scored the third goal for Milan after a brilliant cutback from Theo Hernandez.

The goal was a special one for the Rossoneri academy graduate as it was his first for the club at senior level.

Following their draw against RB Salzburg in the opening game, manager Stefano Pioli will be relieved to defeat Zagreb.

Milan moved to top spot in Group E, with the Croatian giants trailing by a point in second place.

They will look to build on the win when they face Napoli in a gigantic clash in Serie A this weekend.

The Italian giants will be up against Chelsea in the UCL at the start of the next month after the international break.
