Liverpool planning to terminate Arthur Melo’s loan spell in January

Arthur Melo could be heading back to Juventus early as Liverpool are planning to terminate his loan spell.

The Reds signed Arthur on a season-long loan from the Bianconeri on the deadline day, with many people citing it as a panic buy due to their injury crisis in midfield.

The Merseysiders also had an offer worth €100 million turned down by Real Madrid for Federico Valverde.

The Brazilian midfielder has only played 13 minutes this season, which came in the 4-1 defeat against Napoli in the Champions League.

A report from Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Reds could cut his loan spell short and send him back to Turin in January.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t see him in his plans and has also been left unimpressed with his physical condition.

Klopp wants to invest in a top-quality midfielder in the winter transfer window, having been shorthanded due to a string of injuries this season.

Jude Bellingham remains the priority target, but a transfer in January looks highly improbable.

The Reds could face tough competition from European giants for the English midfielder, who Borussia Dortmund value at more than €100m.

PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo are also on the Reds’ radar.

However, the chances of signing Caicedo are bleak, with the Ecuadorian youngster open to signing new terms with the Seagulls.

Klopp’s men ended their two-match losing streak with a thrilling victory over Ajax in the Champions League last night at Anfield.
