Inter Milan defenders Robin Gosens and Milan Skriniar will not leave San Siro this summer, reports Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The rumours of Gosens and Skriniar potentially leaving before the deadline day have been circulating over the past few days, with the players wanted by Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
The Bundesliga outfit had reportedly offered a loan move with an obligation to buy for Gosens, who moved from Atalanta in January and scarcely featured for Inter during the second half of the last season due to injury problems.
It was also reported that Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa had been identified as a replacement for the German full-back if he leaves the San Siro.
However, Leverkusen CEO Simon Rolfes has now dismissed the rumours, insisting that the club are not in talks to sign Gosens.
Di Marzio reports that the 28-year-old will stay at Inter beyond the summer if Stuttgart fail to give the green light to Sosa’s loan move.
Skriniar has been linked with a move to PSG all summer. It was also reported that the French club would maximise their efforts in the final days of the transfer window.
Despite extended negotiations, PSG have struggled to meet Inter’s valuation of around €70 million for Skriniar, with the Italian giants not prepared to negotiate.
The Slovakian’s saga with Les Parisiens appears to be coming to an end, as Inter have decided not to sell him on the deadline day.
They are ready to work on an extension for Skriniar, who has been a staple in the defence for over five years.
Simone Inzaghi wants to add a centre-back to the ranks before the deadline day, with Francesco Acerbi, Inzaghi’s former protege at Lazio, his preferred target.
However, Inter president Steven Zhang has reportedly blocked the transfer, and the club are looking at free agent Dan-Axel Zagadou as an alternative.
