Manchester United confirm Antony transfer agreement

Ajax's Antony looking befuddled

Manchester United have officially announced that they have reached an agreement to sign Brazil international Antony from Ajax.

The 22-year-old will join the Red Devils in an £86 million deal, making him one of their most expensive signings of all time

The Eredivisie outfit have lost several of their key players this summer and were unwilling to part with the Brazilian. They rejected United’s £76m bid for the player a few days ago.

However, the young winger was desperate for a move to Old Trafford and admitted his desire to reunite with former manager Erik ten Hag in an exclusive interview with Fabrizio Romano

The Manchester giants have now finally managed to land their target but had to fork out a huge transfer fee for a deal.

He could even make his debut for United in the match against Arsenal this weekend (as per The Telegraph).

Antony signing is great news

It has been a frustrating transfer window for the Red Devils as they have repeatedly failed to land their targets this summer.

However, fans will now be happy to see that they have finally signed a hugely talented player in Antony.

The 22-year-old started his football career at Brazilian side Sao Paulo before joining Ajax in 2020. He has made 82 appearances across all competitions, scoring 24 goals and creating 22 assists.

He has the distinction of winning two Eredivisie titles and a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is known for his passing, dribbling, crossing and finishing ability.

Ten Hag also knows the player very well, having worked together at the Johan Cruyff Arena. He will know how to get the best out of Antony.
