Barcelona vs Real Valladolid Preview – Prediction, how to watch & line-ups

Fresh from claiming their first La Liga win of the new season, Barcelona return to Camp Nou to welcome newly-promoted Real Valladolid in a seemingly straightforward task.

Only 46 seconds into Barca’s trip to Real Sociedad, Robert Lewandowski found the net to put Xavi Hernandez’s side in front by scoring the club’s fastest league goal since 2009.

The ex-Bayern Munich talisman added another one to his tally beyond half-time as the Blaugrana thrashed the Basque outfit 4-1 to bounce back from a frustrating scoreless home draw with Rayo Vallecano on day one.

With Barcelona’s schedule set to become more intricate with the Champinos League group stages around the corner, Xavi’s men will be out for another landslide victory to gather momentum ahead of a hectic September.

In other La Liga news, summer signing Jules Kounde, who was on the pitch in Barca’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City in a midweek charity match, could make the matchday squad.

According to Forbes, the Catalans have received a green light to register the Frenchman’s contract, as he was ineligible to play on the opening two matchdays after joining the club from Sevilla

Match Preview

Barcelona

Coming into this showdown, Barcelona have failed to score in back-to-back La Liga home outings (D1, L1), last season included, and could make it three top-flight home matches without scoring for the first time since 1980.

However, the Blaugrana’s imperious record of 14 wins from their last 15 league encounters against Valladolid (L1) suggests this should be a walk in the park for Xavi’s star-studded side.

With Lewandowski firing on all cylinders after becoming Barcelona’s oldest player to net a double in a single La Liga fixture in the 21st century, goals should be flying at Camp Nou on Saturday.

Real Valladolid

Valladolid’s return to La Liga after a season-long absence went terribly wrong as Villarreal thumped them 3-0 at the Estadio Jose Zorilla on the opening weekend.

Pacheta’s men were on the verge of pulling off a massive upset on matchday two, but Sevilla’s 86th-minute equaliser cancelled out Valladolid’s 80th-minute opener in a 1-1 draw in Andalusia.

A disappointing draw at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan has extended Los Pucelanos’ exhausting wait for a win in La Liga to 11 games (D7, L4), their worst winless streak in the competition since 2018.

Barcelona vs Real Valladolid Prediction

It’s time for Barcelona to throw a spectacle at the Camp Nou crowd as we back them to put several goals past Sergio Asenjo.

But given the hosts’ defensive frailties, we won’t put it past Valladolid to trouble the scoresheet either.

Barcelona 5-1 Real Valladolid
