Out of favour Tottenham Hotspur midfielder offered to Roma

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered England international Harry Winks to AS Roma on loan.

The 26-year-old is currently enduring a difficult time in north London as he is struggling for minutes under Italian boss Antonio Conte. He has not played in any of the three matches for Spurs this season.

The Premier League club have already off-loaded several of their fringe players this summer and they are now reportedly looking for a new club for Winks.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham have offered the central midfielder to Roma on loan.

The Serie A club need midfield reinforcements as summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum has picked up a long-term injury.

Should move to Roma

Winks is an academy graduate of Spurs who progressed through its youth ranks to earn his senior debut in 2015. Since then, he has made 203 appearances across all competitions at the club, with five goals to his name.

He was a key member of the team when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge. He started the 2019 Champions League final against Liverpool when the north London outfit lost the game 2-0.

However, his fortunes have seen a great decline since the Argentine boss was dismissed in 2019.

The English footballer has made only 18 Premier League starts across the last two seasons.

It is clear that he is not part of Conte’s plans for the 2022-23 season and will most likely be a bench- warmer if he stays in north London.

The England international would hope to get more opportunities at Roma who have done very well since Jose Mourinho has taken over the club.

They have made several top signings this summer and look genuine contenders to finish in the top-four this season.
