Manchester United poised to submit new offer for Ajax forward Antony

Manchester United are reportedly still in the race for Ajax star Antony

Having previously been put off by his mighty €80 million valuation, the Red Devils are now poised to submit a new offer for the Brazilian winger, claims Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that United will push again to sign Antony, even though it will be difficult to find an agreement with Ajax.

The 22-year-old continues to be a top target for Erik ten Hag, who brought him to wider recognition at Ajax.

The Brazilian talent netted 12 goals and ten assists in all competitions for the Eredivisie giants last term, garnering wider recognition. He has successfully carried his form to this season as he has already racked up a goal and two assists in two league games.

Ten Hag is keen on a reunion with the former Sao Paulo star, having done the same with his former Ajax protege Lisandro Martinez, who recently moved to Old Trafford.

The Dutch manager’s summer overhaul is far from over as more reinforcements are needed from defence to attack.

The need has only increased following United’s disastrous start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, with Ten Hag’s men succumbing to shock defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

Romano adds that PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo is a cheaper alternative available for Ten Hag if he fails to sign Antony.

Matheus Cunha is another player United are keeping tabs on, but Atletico Madrid have made it clear they wouldn’t accept a fee lower than €50m.

Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic is also on the Red Devils’ wishlist, but Newcastle United, Juventus and Atletico are also interested.
