Wesley Fofana informs Leicester City he wants Chelsea move

Wesley Fofana tells Leicester City he wants Chelsea move

Wesley Fofana has made it clear to Leicester City that he wants to move to Chelsea, according to the Guardian

Leicester have told Chelsea they want a world record fee for the young Frenchman as they are desperate to hang on to him for at least one more season.

Fofana has reportedly become unsettled as he feels the Foxes are trying to price him out of a move and have informed the club he is keen on moving to West London.

Leicester had initially refused to sell and rejected two bids from Chelsea.

However, their precarious financial situation has seen them soften their stance, but they insist Fofana will only leave if they receive a fee of more than £80 million.

The Blues are not put off by the valuation, and both sides remain locked in negotiations as Chelsea prepares a third bid.

Thomas Tuchel has already brought in Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella to reinforce his defence after losing Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger on free transfers.

Cucurella is versatile enough to slot in at left centre-back when needed, but Tuchel has reiterated his defence needs one more player.

Fofana has excelled since joining Leicester from AS Saint-Étienne two years ago.

He won Leicester’s Young Player of the Season award in his first season in England, helping the Foxes reach the final of that year’s FA Cup, where they defeated Chelsea to lift the title.

The Frenchman suffered a broken leg at the beginning of last season but has shown he is fully up to speed after starting Leicester’s opening two games this season.

Fofana would feature on the right side of Tuchel’s back three alongside Thiago Silva and Koulibaly, allowing Reece James the freedom of the right wing-back role where he is most effective.

Chelsea are aware it could take at least £85m to convince Leicester to sell and, according to the Guardian, sources have indicated the Blues will eventually meet Leicester’s asking price.
