Juventus have confirmed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt winger Filip Kostic on a permanent deal via the club’s official website.
The versatile left-sided player has signed a three-year deal with the Serie A giants in a deal worth around €16 million – a bargain price as Kostic had only one year left to run on his contract.
The 29-year-old attracted attention from clubs across the continent with his performances for Die Adler last season, especially in the Europa League.
Kostic was Frankfurt’s danger man all season, scoring four goals and providing nine assists as Oliver Glasner’s side finished 11th in the Bundesliga.
His incredible talents were on show in Frankfurt’s historic run to the Europa League crown, where he contributed three goals and six assists in 11 games.
West Ham United were at the forefront of the clubs vying for his signature but failed to agree on a deal with the German club, and interest from Juventus complicated the deal further for the Hammers.
Kostic’s move to Turin ends his four-year stay at the Deutsche Bank Park, where he made 171 appearances in all competitions, contributing 33 goals and 64 assists.
His contributions would be sorely missed at the club, with Frankfurt losing 6-1 to Bayern Munich on Bundesliga opening day and 2-0 to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
Massimiliano Allegri has sorted his wing problems with a player former Juventus striker Darko Kovacevic described as ‘the perfect signing’ after the Serbian completed his move to Turin.
Kostic is the Bianconeri’s fifth summer signings so far after Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, Gleison Bremer and Andrea Cambiaso.
He will earn €2.5m in annual wages during his stay at the Allianz Stadium.
Allegri still wants a new midfielder and striker to complete his squad ahead of their 2022-23 season opener against Sassuolo on Monday.
