Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly close to signing Valencia star Goncalo Guedes.
The 25-year-old started his career at Benfica before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in January 2017. However, he failed to settle at the Parc des Princes, bagging only a single assist in 13 appearances across all competitions.
The Portuguese joined Valencia in the following summer, initially on loan which was later made permanent in 2018. Since then, he has clocked up 177 appearances across all competitions at the Mestalla Stadium, bagging 36 goals and 30 assists.
The talented winger struck 13 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, playing an instrumental role in helping his side reach the Copa del Rey final.
But now Valencia are willing to cash in on him to help fund their summer transfers.
According to The Athletic, Wolves are close to signing Guedes in a deal worth in excess of £25 million.
Great news
Bruno Lage’s side failed to make a good start to the new season as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Leeds United in their Premier League opener. It looks like they need to bring in reinforcements this summer to improve their squad.
Wolves haven’t been very active in this transfer window, with the west Midlands outfit only managing to bring in Hwang Hee-chan and Nathan Collins.
Guedes could prove to be an outstanding addition for them. He is a versatile forward who can play as a winger and a second striker.
He likes to play long balls and is highly rated for his ability to shoot from distance.
Wolves fans will be very happy that their club are finally very close to making a marquee signing this summer in the form of the Portuguese winger.
