‘Everything is possible’ – Corinthians president keen to sign Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo

Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves has reportedly expressed an interest in signing Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese star has made it very clear that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer and join another club where he can play in the Champions League.

However, several top European clubs have declined the opportunity to sign him, including Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

But the 37-year-old is now given an unlikely escape route from Old Trafford, with Corinthians interested in securing his services.

The Brazilian club’s president Monteiro Alves recently said he will be keeping an eye on Ronaldo, insisting that everything is possible in football.

“It’s true, I dream big – this is Corinthians!” he said (as per Mundo Deportivo).

“Aren’t Willian and Renato Augusto here? In football everything is possible and I have the obligation to give my best for Corinthians.

“Is it possible? I don’t know. We didn’t try, we didn’t investigate, there was no such possibility, but we are keeping an eye on him. Imagine that he suddenly wants to play in Brazil.”

Brazil move looks impossible

There has been plenty of speculation about Ronaldo’s future at United.

The former Real Madrid star has been linked with several top clubs since he expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford.

Now Corinthians have also revealed their interest in the experienced forward. However, it looks highly unlikely that he will leave United to play in Brazil.

Corinthians are undoubtedly one of the most successful football clubs in South America, having won 30 league titles as well as the Club World Cup. But a move to Sao Paulo is not a realistic possibility.

The Red Devils have maintained that Ronaldo, who played a hugely important role last season, is not for sale.

They will likely be more firm on this stance following a minor injury to Anthony Martial who misses United’s opening match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
