Manchester United have told star forward Cristiano Ronaldo they don’t want him to leave despite the player agitating for a move, according to the Telegraph.
The player made it clear that he wants to leave the club to play Champions League football while United are stuck in Europa League.
The problem is that no Champions League club has made a serious case to sign the UCL all-time top goalscorer.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has offered the player to Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, but they have all decided not to sign him.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo also dismissed any chances of the club signing their former foe.
This hasn’t stopped Ronaldo from pushing for a move away from Old Trafford. He remains hell-bent on playing Champions League football this coming season.
United completed their pre-season tour without the former Real Madrid and Juventus attacker. However, they will be hoping to keep him around despite the unrest he has caused.
Ajax ramp up Antony price
Ajax have increased their valuation of Antony from €80 million to €100m, according to De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij.
The Amsterdam club does not want to sell more of their players after losing Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui, Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Nicolas Tagliafico.
With Ronaldo struggling to find a good offer from a top European club and the club desperate to keep him, he may stay at United this summer.
While most top clubs have discussed the prospect of bringing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he is a player whose current skillset and age would require tactical adjustments that most coaches are unwilling to implement.
There seems to be no other place for Ronaldo to go than United. That will be great news for the club as they try to avoid paying excessively for Antony.
