AC Milan are closing in on a potential summer move for Charles De Ketelaere as they are set for the final round of talks with Club Brugge.
Sky Sport Italia reports that Milan directors Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini will travel to Belgium on Wednesday to submit their final proposal to Brugge and try to wrap up the deal.
While Leeds United were also said to be keen on De Ketelaere after submitting a €30 million offer, his priority turns out to be moving to Milan, with personal terms already agreed.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal 2021/22 campaign with Club Brugge, eventually turning the heads of Europe’s top clubs.
He netted 18 goals and ten assists in all competitions and also won his third consecutive Belgian league title.
De Ketelaere has been identified as the top target to strengthen the No.10 position in Stefano Pioli’s 4-2-3-1, with Brahim Diaz failing to be consistent last season.
Besides, the Belgian prospect has the versatility to play in different positions, from central midfielder to a false 9.
He has already earned eight caps with the Belgian Red Devils, and moving to a top club like Milan will increase his likelihood of earning a place in the World Cup 2022 squad.
De Ketelaere will be Rossoneri’s second major addition this summer after Divock Origi, while the moves for Junior Messias and Alessandro Florenzi have also been made permanent.
While Milan have also announced a new one-year deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rossoneri are currently working on potential deals for Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech and Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga.
