Manchester United announce the arrival of Christian Eriksen

Manchester United have confirmed the acquisition of free agent Christian Eriksen on a three-year deal as confirmed by the club earlier today.

Eriksen spent the second half of the just-concluded campaign on loan at Brentford where he caught the eye with one goal and four assists in 11 Premier League games.

Unsurprisingly, Thomas Frank’s men wanted to retain the services of their star midfielder, who opted to sign for the 20-time Premier League champions instead after giving the green light last month.

On the completion of his move to Old Trafford, Eriksen expressed his delight to have signed for Erik ten Hag’s men, while also stating his desire to work with the Dutch manager.

“Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started,” the Denmark international was quoted saying by United’s official website.

“I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling.

“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day.

“Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future.”

Eriksen is United’s second signing of the current window, following in the footsteps of Tyrell Malacia as the latest arrivals at the Theatre of Dreams.

Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is set to join in the coming days as an agreement for his transfer has been reached with Ajax.

While United have enjoyed a productive last couple of weeks off the pitch, the Red Devils have also been successful on it with a 4-0 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday followed up by a 4-1 demolition of Melbourne City earlier today.
