Leeds United step up negotiations for Arnaud Kalimuendo

Leeds United are in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of the highly-rated Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to L’Equipe.

Per the report, a deal worth an initial €22million – plus a further €3m in add-ons – is currently being discussed between the clubs after which Leeds would have to agree personal terms with the player.

Should a move for Kalimuendo materialise, he would become the seventh new acquisition at Elland Road this window, joining Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi as the latest arrivals.

Kalimuendo has spent the last two seasons on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Lens where has scored 21 goals in 65 appearances across all competitions for Les Sang et Or.

Unsurprisingly, a host of teams are now interested in acquiring his services this summer with Inter Milan and Newcastle United also thought to be keen on a move alongside Leeds.

A move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza looks to be very much on the cards for the 20-year-old with PSG and Inter currently embroiled in negotiations for Milan Skriniar’s transfer to the French capital.

However, Kalimuendo would have to compete with Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko for a starting spot with the Nerazzurri and a move to Yorkshire might just be the best option for his continued development at this point in time.

Jesse Marsch’s men could certainly do with a new striker as their first-choice number nine Patrick Bamford missed the majority of last season through injury and his fitness heading into the upcoming campaign will be a cause for concern.

The Peacocks are believed to be in pursuit of Charles De Ketelaere but the Club Brugge man would favour a move to AC Milan as it stands, all but ending any hopes of a potential switch to Leeds.
