Paul Pogba has revealed the reason behind his decision to turn down offers from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in favour of Juventus’ reunion.
The Frenchman called time on his underwhelming six-year career at Manchester United earlier this summer,
He re-signed for Juventus, where he spent the best years of his life, as a free agent after refusing to commit his future to Old Trafford.
Pogba reportedly had offers from PSG and Madrid on the table, but he opted against accepting them to secure a way back to Turin.
Paulo Dybala’s summer exit left the iconic No.10 shirt open for the taking and the World Cup-winning France midfielder jumped in to fill the vacancy.
Immediately after signing his contract at the Allianz Stadium, Pogba took to the press to express his delight about returning to Serie A.
“I am very happy to get it back. I tell the fans I am back home and I am happy. It’s time! I’ll be even happier when we bring the Scudetto home too,” he said, as relayed by the Metro.
“Home Sweet Home! I feel great, it’s an atmosphere I cannot define, but I am very happy and impatient to be back in the Bianconeri jersey again.
“My heart decided for me and I am sure that I made the right decision. This jersey is everything for me, Juventus gave me the opportunity to be Pogba.”
Pogba’s return should be a major coup for Massimiliano Allegri’s side, who endured a first trophyless season in a decade back last season.
After nine successive Serie A titles, Juventus have failed to lift the Scudetto over the past couple of years.
With the French playmaker back to the fold, the Bianconeri’s chances of recovering domestic supremacy from AC Milan should go up next season.
In addition to Pogba, Juventus have brought in Angel Di Maria on a free transfer after the Argentine winger ran down his contract in Paris.
