Manchester United interested in Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic

Manchester United have added Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic to the list of potential striker targets for the summer, reports Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Erik ten Hag is well aware that the striker position needs strengthening due to the uncertain future of Cristiano Ronaldo as well as the lack of form of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Kalajdzic’s name is said to have been discussed by the Red Devils though they are yet to step up their interest.

The Austrian striker has been excellent in Bundesliga over the last two seasons, netting 22 goals and eight assists in 48 appearances for Stuttgart.

The most impressive thing is he has managed to do so with an underperforming Stuttgart side.

Despite missing the first half of the last season through a shoulder injury, the 25-year-old’s presence was crucial in the latter half as he racked up six goals and two assists in 15 league games to help his side avoid relegation.

Man Utd also seem to have the edge in the race for Kalajdzic as German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly cooled their interest.

Kalajdzic is strong in aerial duels due to his tall presence while also being an excellent finisher.

In addition, he is also a creative presence as he averages 1.5 key passes per game in Bundesliga (Who Scored).

With his contract expiring at the end of the next season, the 15-capped Austrian international is rated at around €25 million.

The Red Devils have also been linked with RB Leipzig’s young striker Brian Brobbey, but recent reports suggest that he is closing in on a permanent transfer to Ajax, where he spent the last season on loan.

Man Utd are looking to keep hold of Ronaldo against his wish to leave Old Trafford this summer, with Ten Hag recently insisting that the Portuguese international is not for sale.
