Jurgen Klopp has played down the possibility of Liverpool bringing in any new midfielders this summer.
Last season, the Reds were one of the world’s best performing sides. They scooped the FA Cup and Carabao Cup double, while reaching the Champions League final and finishing just one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League.

However, if there is one perceived weakness in their side, it is in central midfield. Thiago Alcantara is considered one of the league’s best midfielders, but was only able to start 17 games last season due to injury. Fabinho is in a similar category, having also missed a significant chunk of the previous year.
Meanwhile, their other central midfield options are questionable, and a number of them are ageing. Thiago, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner are all in their 30s, and only Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are under 26.
Liverpool have reportedly been looking to bolster the heart of their team this summer. Aurelien Tchouameni was linked but opted to go to Real Madrid, while Jude Bellingham has also been on their radar.
But manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that a new midfielder may not be incoming. As quoted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the German said: “He (Bellingham) is not on the market, so that’s the only problem with that player.
“I don’t think something will happen in midfield, but you never know. If somebody comes to me and says ‘I want to go’ – but nobody came to me yet”.

It’s already been a fairly eventful transfer window at Anfield. The most notable signing has been Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, who arrived from Benfica for an estimated £64 million, while teenage duo Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho have also come in.
Meanwhile, Sadio Mane departed for Bayern Munich after six years at the club. The likes of Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi, and Loris Karius were also let go.
