Torino part ways with Italian striker Andrea Belotti

Torino have announced the departure of Italian striker Andrea Belotti following the end of his contract.

The 28-year-old moved to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino from Palermo in 2015 and has enjoyed an impressive seven-year stint with the Granata.

Belotti made 245 appearances for Torino across all competitions, scoring an impressive 107 goals while providing 33 assists.

He also has 44 senior caps for the Italian national team, scoring 13 goals and setting up four more on the international scene.

“Dear Andrea, we acknowledge your decision to begin a new experience – from today we take different paths,” wrote Torino on the club’s official Twitter page.

“We spent seven seasons together, which, in modern football, represent a very solid bond. We always shared with the same passion joys and sufferings, emotions and disappointments.

“We thank you for everything you gave us. Proud of what you have become for Toro, we salute you by wishing you good luck in the continuing of your career.”

Belotti scored eight goals in 29 Serie A appearances for Torino last season – his lowest league tally since joining the club.

He had previously been linked with several top clubs across Europe, including Chelsea and Manchester United. However, a move failed to materialise as the Turin outfit held on to their captain.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato claim AS Monaco are now keen on snapping up the forward and have tabled a contract for his services.

However, they face fierce competition from Fiorentina and newly-promoted Serie A side Monza, who have also been credited with an interest in the former Palermo man.
