Barcelona reach verbal agreement with priority target Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona are getting closer to signing Robert Lewandowski with each passing week, as reliable German journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that a verbal agreement has been reached with the Bayern Munich striker over a summer move.

The Polish striker is said to have agreed to a three-year deal until 2025 with the Catalan giants.

Barca have been working hard behind the scenes to sign their dream target Lewandowski, whose contract at Allianz Arena expires in the summer of 2023 and has decided against signing an extension.

The 33-year-old also wants to join no other club than Barca, with manager Xavi reportedly contacting him directly to convince him to be part of his project.

Barca’s financial problems wouldn’t be an obstacle as they believe they can get the deal over the line for around €40 million since Lewandowski is in the final year of his contract.

However, the Bavarians will not sell their star striker before finding a suitable replacement.

Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who has been impressive over the last two seasons in Bundesliga, has emerged as a potential target.

In addition, the Bavarians are targeting a high-profile signing like Sadio Mane, who could be a like-for-like replacement for the Polish international.

The Senegalese international’s future at Liverpool is hanging in the balance as his contract expires next summer while no talks over an extension haven’t been initiated.

Bayern have no intentions of selling Lewandowski in the summer, with the club chiefs publicising their desire in recent weeks.

In contrast, the European Golden Boot winner is desperate to force out an exit, and the only destination he is thinking about is Barca.
