Cristiano Ronaldo hints at Manchester United stay, says he is excited to work with ten Hag

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has been thrown into doubt following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford last summer in one of the most exciting transfers, instilling hope among fans that United can end their trophy drought with his arrival.

However, as it turned out, United endured one of the most troubled seasons in their history, and even the 37-year-old’s impressive form wasn’t enough to prevent his side from falling from grace.

In fact, the Red Devils’ horrific season has overshadowed the individual brilliance of Ronaldo, who has netted 18 goals in the Premier League – the third highest.

The former Real Madrid star cut a frustrated figure on several occasions, where United imploded by not showing character.

In addition, the failure to qualify for the Champions League has fuelled the speculations that he could consider an exit from Old Trafford.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has often praised Ronaldo for his physical qualities and getting better with age but insisted that the final decision on the Portuguese star’s future rests with new manager Erik ten Hag.

Now, the former Juventus ace has a welcome message for Ten Hag while also implying that he could stay at Old Trafford next season after saying he is excited to work with the Dutch gaffer.

Ronaldo told United’s official website: “What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach. But we need to give him time.

“Things need to change the way he wants.

“I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.

“We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well.

“I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.”
