Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans prefers a move to Real Madrid

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans could be on the move this summer after reportedly turning down an extension offer from the Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are ready to cash in on the Belgian midfielder to avoid leaving him for free at the end of the next season.

Tieleman’s situation has caught the attention of several European giants, including Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, he prefers a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to Belgian journalist Sacho Tavolieri.

Tavolieri tweeted (h/t the Daily Mail): “Youri Tielemans would have told those around him his preference for a departure to Spain.

“Real Madrid, interested, could position themselves concretely in the coming weeks… To be continued.”

Los Blancos have been linked with the former Anderlecht star for a while as they look to reinforce their options in the middle of the park.

Although the midfield department appears to be stacked, the recently crowned La Liga champions have to find long-term replacements for ageing Luka Modric – who recently penned a new deal – and Toni Kroos.

Madrid have been showing a lot of interest in Premier League players in recent years, with the transfer of Eden Hazard in 2019 and the prospective arrival of Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea this summer being a few instances.

The Spanish capital club can acquire the services of Tielemans for a cut-price fee of £25m whilst they are also keen on Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Tielemans has been one of the best midfielders in the English top-flight over the last few seasons, and he was instrumental in the Foxes winning the FA Cup last year – scoring the decisive goal in the finals against Chelsea.

Despite a lacklustre Premier League campaign this term, the 24-year-old is currently focused on winning the Europa Conference League, with Leicester facing AS Roma in the second leg of the semi-finals on Friday, as the aggregate score stands 1-1.
