Borussia Dortmund join race for Sebastien Haller

Borussia Dortmund are plotting a summer move for Ajax striker Sebastien Haller, according to a report from The Sun.

The 27-year-old has been one of Europe’s hottest marksmen, netting 33 times in 39 games for Ajax with de Godenzonen closing in on a 36th league crown.

Haller was recently linked with a move to Manchester United as his current manager Erik ten Hag prepares to take over the reins at Old Trafford next season.

He is viewed as a cheaper alternative to the Red Devils’ other striker targets such as Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Benfica’s Darwin Nunez.

The 27-year-old could be keen on returning to England probably feeling he has a point to prove off the back of a torrid time in East London following a club-record £40million switch to West Ham United.

Having managed just 14 goals in 54 outings with the Hammers, Haller left for the Eredivisie last January and has since revived his career at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Per Calciomercato, both Inter Milan are AC Milan are huge admirers of the Ivorian, who still has two years left on his deal in the Dutch capital, and is expected to command a transfer fee in the region of £35m.

Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest amid the uncertainty around Robert Lewandowski’s future, and Dortmund are now thought to have joined the race for his signature.

With Die Borussen set to lose the highly-coveted Erling Haaland to Manchester City in the upcoming window, the search for a replacement is on at the Signal Iduna Park hence the links to Haller.

Haller scored in both of Ajax’s Champions League clashes with Dortmund earlier in the campaign en route to his tally of 11 in the competition this term – behind only Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski.
