AC Milan in advanced negotiations to sign Domenico Berardi

AC Milan are in advanced talks with Sassuolo for the signing of Domenico Berardi this summer, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian forward has been a consistent performer for Neroverdi over the years, and he feels ready to take the next big step in his career.

Rossoneri have identified Berardi as a top target to reinforce their attack, while the prospective new owners Investcorp see the Azzurri star as a key player for their project.

Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus were credited with an interest in Berardi, but Milan are now cruising to sign him, with sporting director Paolo Maldini already in talks with Neroverdi.

Berardi has garnered an impressive tally of 14 goals and 15 assists in Serie A this term, and he is only valued at around €30 million.

Neroverdi CEO Giovanni Carnevali has previously spoken about Berardi’s potential departure this summer, stating that Milan could be the perfect destination for him.

Carnevali said: “I think Berardi would be perfect for Milan and if I were at a top Italian club, the first player on my wish-list would be Berardi.”

Milan have also identified Berardi’s teammate Gianluca Scamacca as another target for the summer, but they are likely to face competition from arch-rivals Inter Milan for his signing.

Backed by the affluent Bahrain-led firm Investcorp, Milan have lined up a handful of marquee players like Riyad Mahrez, Christopher Nkunku and Raheem Sterling as top targets for the summer.

Stefano Pioli’s side are said to have secured the deals for Liverpool striker Divock Origi and Sven Botman from Lille.
