Inter Milan interested in signing Miralem Pjanic

Inter Milan have expressed their desire to snap up Miralem Pjanic, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The midfielder has struggled to nail down a starting spot at Barcelona since joining from Juventus two years ago in a two-way deal that saw Arthur Melo head to Turin.

Pjanic is currently on loan at Turkish outfit Besiktas where he has made 26 appearances across all competitions but will return to Camp Nou at the end of the campaign to sort out his long-term future.

The Blaugrana are reportedly looking to offload Pjanic on a permanent basis this summer as he is not part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans going forward.

Meanwhile, Besiktas are keen to retain his services as confirmed by the club’s president Ahmet Nur Cebi via Sabah back in November.

“We would like to buy him, but it depends on the conditions. We will never attempt anything bigger than our height, but I hope he stays within our height.”

A move to Italy is also on the cards for Pjanic with Inter thought to be admirers of the 32-year-old, whose contract at Barcelona runs out in 2024.

The Nerazzurri are in need of reinforcements in the middle of the park with Arturo Vidal on the verge of leaving the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Per Fichajes, AC Milan have also been linked with a loan move for Pjanic with an option to buy in 2023 as they seek to replace the departing Franck Kessie.

Both Milan clubs would however have to deal with Pjanic’s significant wage bill of £271,000 per week which could prove to be a stumbling block.

It also remains to be seen whether Pjanic would fancy a move to any of the Milan clubs but that looks to be his best option at the moment.

Having excelled at both Roma and Juventus, Pjanic is undoubtedly a quality player and a return to the Serie A could help revive his career off the back of a tough last couple of seasons.
