AC Milan eyeing swoop for Raheem Sterling amid Bahrain-based takeover

AC Milan are set to undergo a change in ownership, with Bahrain-led firm Investcorp reportedly in talks to complete a takeover worth £827 million.

The prospective new owners are ready to back Rossoneri in the transfer window in hopes to see them compete at the highest level continuously.

Several marquee players have been identified as potential targets for the summer, including Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, reports Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The English winger has his contract running until 2023, and hence, City could try to sell him this summer if he doesn’t agree to a contract extension.

The 27-year-old endured a struggling first half this term before regaining his form to earn the trust of Pep Guardiola.

Having racked up 14 goals and seven assists in all competitions, City reportedly wants to extend his stay at the Etihad.

Milan believe they could persuade the ex-Liverpool star to San Siro with the allure of the potential takeover and being a top-two club in Serie A over the last two seasons.

RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku is running high on the wishlist of Rossoneri alongside high-profile names like Isco, Marco Asensio and Sebastien Haller.

Rossoneri would look to reinforce the attack this summer due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic nearing the end of his contract.

Despite defying his age for a long time, the Swede’s fitness is a major concern for Rossoneri, as it is with Ante Rebic, who reportedly sustained a knee injury in last night’s derby against Inter Milan.
