Paris Saint-Germain eyeing a reunion with Christopher Nkunku

Paris Saint-Germain are eyeing a summer swoop for RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku, as per a report from Foot Mercato.

The French forward has grown into one of Europe’s highly-coveted players after leaving Parc des Princes in 2019.

Nkunku has been in red hot form for Leipzig this term, amassing 27 goals and 16 assists in all competitions.

He also put in standout performances against Manchester City – where he scored a hat-trick – and PSG in the Champions League.

His scintillating form has reportedly seen top European clubs hot on their trail, with PSG now joining the race.

Les Parisiens are looking to reshuffle the squad this summer after a disappointing season, where they came up short in the Champions League and French Cup.

They are eyeing more young faces, as several first-team stars, including Neymar, Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria are in their 30s, and all have underperformed this season.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has identified Nkunku as a priority for the summer, and in addition, it is seen as a strategy to keep hold of exit-linked Kylian Mbappe, with whom the Leipzig star shares a close bond.

However, PSG have to fork out around €70m for Nkunku, whose contract at Leipzig runs until 2024.

As for now, the 24-year-old is focused on the Europa League quarter-final clash against Atalanta and to help Leipzig secure a top-four finish.

He scored a stunning brace against Borussia Dortmund last weekend and now hopes to make a similar impact against the Italian giants in the first leg.
