Lille defender Sven Botman is closing in on a summer move to AC Milan, reports Nicolo Shira.

As claimed by Shira, Botman has already agreed personal terms for a five-year contract with the Italian giants, who are now confident of striking a deal with their French counterparts in the coming weeks.

The Dutchman burst onto the scene after playing a significant role en route to Lille’s remarkable title triumph in the 2020-21 campaign.

Currently top of Serie A with eight games to go, Milan are closing in on their first league title since 2011 and are already making plans for the summer with Divorck Origi also close to joining.

With Alessio Romagnoli linked with a switch to Newcastle, it is no surprise to see Stefano Pioli’s men in the market for defensive reinforcement.

Having only turned 22 in January, Botman would be a fantastic addition and could form a long-term partnership with the 24-year-old Fikayo Tomori.

Paolo Maldini is a huge admirer of Botman as the Rossoneri technical director sang his praises while speaking to DAZN back in January.

“Botman is a very good player, he is owned by Lille and has a contract until 2024. Of course he is not the only only target, there are other players available.“

The Dutchman might not be the only Lille player on his way to San Siro this summer as Milan are also keen on snapping up Renato Sanches to replace Franck Kessie with the latter all but set for a switch to Barcelona.
