Luke Shaw bagged a first-half equaliser, while Harry Kane continued his quest to top the England top scorers list with a penalty after the break.
The African team were unfortunate not to draw in France on Friday, with Aurelien Tchouameni’s late goal sealing a 2-1 win for Les Bleus.
Match Preview
England
England were fortunate winners against Switzerland, with the team producing a hugely disjointed performance in the first half.
Shaw’s long-range effort levelled the game, but the Swiss should have been three or four goals in front before his superb effort.
The Three Lions will be confident of recording another victory against Ivory Coast, although they will have to play much better to get the job done.
Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast gave France an almighty fright on Friday and can count themselves not to have secured at least a draw in Marseille.
Nicolas Pepe’s fine strike gave them a deserved lead in the first half, but Olivier Giroud’s header levelled things up before the break.
Tchouameni headed in a dramatic late winner, but Ivory Coast had demonstrated their ability to make life difficult for the so-called top international teams.
Team News
Southgate made several changes to his line-up for the game against Switzerland and may experiment again on Tuesday.
Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell may get an opportunity at left wing-back, while Jack Grealish could be handed the chance to shine further forward.
England Potential Starting XI
Pickford, Walker-Peters, Mitchell, White, Maguire, Mings, Rice, Bellingham, Sterling, Kane, Grealish.
Ivory Coast Potential Starting XI
Sangare B, Konan, Bailly, Boly, Aurier, Seri, Kessie, Sangare I, Pepe, Zaha, Haller.
England vs Ivory Coast Prediction
England’s first-half performance against Switzerland was poor, but they eventually battled back to nab a narrow win.
Ivory Coast will provide a stern test, but the Three Lions should have enough about them to win the game.
England 2-0 Ivory Coast.
