Arsenal and Tottenham battle for highly-rated Turkish winger

Arsenal and Tottenham are set to battle out for Galatasaray forward Kerem Akturkoglu, reports in Turkey suggest (h/t The Daily Express).

The young Turkish forward has made a huge impact at Galatasaray over the last two seasons.

The 23-year-old has netted eight goals and three assists in the Turkish top flight this season, already bettering the last season’s tally of nine-goal contributions.

Specifically, Akturkoglu has received wider attention following his impressive run in Europa League this term, racking up three goals and four assists and helping Galatasaray reach the round of 16 – where they got knocked out by Barcelona.

His rich vein of form has caught the attention of top European clubs, including North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham.

The Gunners will look to reinforce their attack, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah running out of contracts in June.

On the other hand, Antonio Conte is poised for a summer overhaul, with the Italian gaffer determined to build a highly-competitive squad at Spurs.

Their attack looks a formidable one at the moment with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski. Aktorkoglu would be a great upgrade over outcasts Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura.

The Galatasaray No.7 is valued at around £17 million, and both Arsenal and Spurs wouldn’t have problems in forking out the fee.

However, they are expected to face heavy competition for his signature, with Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg and Lyon interested.

Akturkoglu has been summoned for Turkey’s World Cup play-offs semi-final against Portugal.
